Welcome to Plagued! We are an original zombie roleplay forum with a twist! On this active zombie survival forum, we accept players of all different skill levels, and have a grand variety of character types and locations to explore.
It's been over five years since the dead began to rise, and an overwhelming force of demonic enemies are running rampant in the streets. The population of undead are growing and constantly on the move, but can humanity survive such a deadly plague? Or is it already too late?

I would have to echo the opinion of Arc. I think people would be more hesitant to use their weapons if we began regulating them. But as far as the shop as a whole, I am all for it. Especially the OOC goodies.
I believe that the shop would be a great idea, linking back to Percy's post and Arc's, many people would try to not use their weapons as often as to when they had endless amounts of ammo. Although, I believe this to have many advantages due to the fact it is often done to kill a Lesser etc with one bullet, without any fight involved. I, myself have a habit of doing this. And I believe that if we removed this, it would be better due to the fact fights could be more realistic, and it also shows the trouble some of our characters would have to survive, as they haven't got enough money etc. Instead of walking into shops and immeadiently finding what they were looking for.
Then I revert back to my initial idea, that character that join from now on may have some basic weaponry... 9mm pistol, shotgun and rifle etc but if they want something more impressive then they must buy it in the shop. That does mean you have to have a large and comprehensive shop with a lot of items to cover all ranges though.
It would then make the shop as useful for humans as for Overminds/Reavers/Vampyres.
For weapons, I was thinking of giving new characters a small list of weapons they could possibly start off with. They could pick like one or two from the list and that would be what their character has on them (guns. Knives and baseball bats and improvised weapons I'm not really too concerned about. They can have what they want in those regards.) With the gun they pick, they would haven't have limited ammo. But of course, they can't go around shooting the thing in the air. All that jazz.
Indeed, you could give a base weapon list of things they can choose from - for guns and such I mean. For things like melee weapons and improvised weapons it would have to entirely depend on the character, a farmer might have a sickle where a model might be stuck with a stileto shoe. xD
That also means that those of us that aren't so bothered about having specialist weapons can use points on other things. I was thinking that even if people wanted you to make specific boards in relation to their character you might be able to make a suboard or something to contain them all... like the Theme park which is rather specific to the Caretaker or the church which is specific to the Zombie Priest. I don't know, just a thought. It could be fun for some overminds and such to have permanent torture chambers and such...
but that might be unpopular. I know some people don't want to have to use points to do that. But I was thinking that they could RP it out as if they owned it but they would need to use points to get a specific subboard made for it. I don't know, I get weird ideas sometimes.
So, I brought this up as an idea in the contest thread.
I haven't exactly worked out all the details yet, which is why I'm only considering it, and I'm still not sure about how I could fully incorporate it so that the entire site uses this system and enjoys it (with little complaints because I know some people won't like it)
Basically, there will be a money system, but since it is the apocalypse, there really is no money.
Each post would be worth an X number of points. Each IC post you make would count for X amount of points. For instance, one IC post could be worth 25 points. I'll think of a cooler name for them other than 'points' but for this explanation, I'll just call them points.
Now, there would be a 'store' of sorts, OOC of course. It would hold a list of OOC and IC items. OOC things like a different custom title or maybe even colorsmear. (MAYBE! I'm very attached to my colorsmear. =D) It would hold IC items like weapons or custom items people might want or even another ability. We'll see. This will help regulate people starting off with their characters having an entire arsenal at the hands. It would add more realism with things being rationed. Having a character walking around like a tank isn't the usual in a post-apocalyptic world as it is portrayed on this site.
CONTESTS would also be incorporated into the system. Contest winners will get X number of points added to their total.
Please, leave you comments in this thread. If you have any concerns, voice them. If you have any ideas for possible items, talk about them here. I want to know people's opinions. If this gets enough favor, we will work AS A SITE to build this shop. You will have a say in what goes into the shop and what is available. I can't do it by myself. =P
It would be cool to have points and such for when we post. I actually had an RP where we used "caps" because it was a Fallout RP, but we will need some sort of currency to actually use or something, I dunno.
As I said, it would be a cool idea. However, this would mean the weapons our characters use is a bit...limited. I mean I generally don't use my weapons on a regular basis anyway nor do I find myself IC to use them. I don't really like the idea of regulating our stuff, but that's just me.
As for OOC things...I like the names the way they are, it makes the site look more organized rather than having people with different colored names (as you said the color smear but personally I think only Sober should even have that).
If we have it, then we have it and I'll go along with it but I don't like the idea of regulating weapons and that's not even a problem for me lol.
I have to agree with the shop as well. I am new to this site, but I would hope that my opinion would be taken into consideration the same as anyone else. While I like the idea of a store, I also have to take into consideration the downsides it brings. For example; The way the site is now, everyone, especially in graphics, does things for each other without need for a type of purchase. If you incorporate IC points into the matter, much like many of the anime related sites I RP on do, you could end up with artists charging ridiculous amounts of money for signatures, avatars, and the like. Not only is this monopolizing bad for the site as a whole, but it allows those select few users the power to buy whatever they please because they gain so many points.
While you could then ban the transfer of points, that doesn't make up for the other problems that may yet arise. As someone else already mentioned, the site, from what I have seen, already has many special weapons coveted by their owners. Putting restrictions on weapons that are already in use is somewhat unfair to new users joining the site. On the flip-side however, there are also the "Walking Tanks' we all know roam the site. That particular issue can be prevented with simple monitoring of character applications. As far as i know characters aren't allowed to have their weapons approved, then randomly go through a garbage pile and find three desert eagles and a Barret .50 cal.
Limited ammo is something I agree with, but I think it should have a system behind it such as: ACR - x3 magazines with 30 rounds each per thread (Excluding long drawn out battle scenes). This would cause a lot more effort to be put into the posts, instead of; "I fire 12 precise shots and kill a dozen zombies." Then again, such a system would take time, and simply putting a price on ammo would nullify the need for it. As for OOC fighting style purchases, I like the idea. Unfortunately if there aren't a lot of different classes and specializations to choose from, we will have twenty different people all renowned for the exact same thing, which raises the question of who is better during fights.
As for the "Get out of jail for free card" idea, I completely disagree. Such things take the fun out of RPing. Think of it this way. You are just about to kill the guy you've been after for a month. Then, just before the final blow, he pulls one of those out of his ass. I claim shenanigans! No, it came from a game, let it stay there. Back to my original topic, the store. IC would be difficult, especially if your trying to make it fair for everyone. I honestly think it would just complicate measures.
Finally, I read from Charity an interesting Idea. Specialized weapons. If the staff were to do that, they would find themselves with quite a lot to do. That is a very broad spectrum to cover, especially considering what exactly people consider a weapon in an apocalypse. For example; I read one post where one women used a wrench and a shovel as weapons. Shovel and wrench classes? Odd to say the least. I suppose this could be avoided by classifying weapons by way of what they generally are, such as blunt, sharp, projectile, etc. But these are just my thoughts. Overall I think the good outweighs the bad, and as such I vote yes.
P.S. For those who read that whole thing I apologize for rambling, I get ahead of myself sometimes. ^^"
