Shayde had gotten away for a bit, though unlike other nights when she kept to herself and drowned herself in a book of some sort, tonight she was looking for something...or more specifically, somebody. That person? Her brother, the only one in this entire world who meant anything to the little ginger haired Reaver and by far the only one that could ever understand her. She had not seen him since Darius had found out about his existence, both of them knowing that it was likely far too dangerous for them to continue meeting up. It had been hell though, as had every day in the past seven years she had spent away from him. He was the other half of her very soul and they shared a bond that though unlike that she shared with her Overmind, was still far too special and unbreakable to ever ignore. She missed him every second she wasn't with him. Missed the ability to be more of who she was and less of the foolish mute that everyone believed her to be. But she trusted him, and when Shadow had told her they should stay away from one another, she had agreed even though inside it had broken her far more than any besides him could ever know.
So why was she looking for him tonight then? It was easy. She had been traded off like some sort of baseball card and now, in the wake of such, loomed the impending moment that her new Mistress would require her to lure her brother in to the trap that Darius had set up for him, using her as bait. The very thought causing a spike in the anxiety in the heart of the already anxious Reaver as she paced endlessly back and forth along the slippery cave floor. She had spent hours trying to find him, looking in all the places she had felt him to have been in the past, yet nothing had come of it. She had turned up not a single clue as to where he could be, and with the midnight hour slowly approaching, Shayde had finally resigned to doing the only thing she could think of to do. She had let her emotions get the better of her, and she had lost all control over them. Anxiety and fear, compounded with an overwhelming sadness plagued her mind and her heart as she had made her way to the caves. It was the one spot she knew would likely be devoid of any other person, if only because the terrain was so very torturous that any human who entered usually died of some nasty fall or something like that. Very few ever used this area and therefore, it was the safest place for her to meet him. Assuming of course, that bond did not betray her and he was able to find her.
Unlike her bond to her Overmind, it was not an exact science. She could not easily pin point where her twin brother way any easier than he could find her location, but they could get a general idea if the emotions and the pain they felt for the other was strong enough. From there, it was all a matter of knowing one another well enough to know where the other would go. Hence, the caves. There was nothing else for miles around and given their seclusion, she knew or at least hoped that Shadow would be able to find her here...that he would know her habits well enough to know she would go in despite the dangers that this place posed. If he didn't, well then she would have to find a way to find him wherever he was at, because no matter how long it took, she had to try and warn him. The very idea of him being enslaved like she had been...she couldn't bare it.
A silent whimper caught within her throat, she fidgeted and twisted the sleeves of her sweater which hung down over her hands. The purple sweater was a bit too big for her, shoulder exposed as it slid down off from it and onto her arms. Her glasses constantly sliding down along the bridge of her nose. Her jeans, as always had holes in the knees and her sneakers were on their very last leg. She looked a mess, and the only nice thing she had on was the necklace that he had given her years ago and the hat which she had pulled down over he orange colored locks. Worrying her lower lip between pearly white teeth, she would shift softly and continue pacing back and forth across the cold, empty cave which extended for mile and miles behind her. She was far enough back in that nobody would be able to hear them or see them easily, but not so far she would be impossible to find in the maze of tunnels that led through this place. Her mind thinking of him and only of him, hopeful that would be enough to bring him here.
