"Hurry up, girl!" Darius' voice echoing through the cold and empty land surrounding them as they made their way through the snow covered ground toward the Necropolis. He had been rather tight lipped about anything that was going on, having only told her where they were headed and yet, she knew. She knew that he had a meeting with another Overmind, a woman named Freya, and he was anxious about it because of a deal he had yet to make good on. For all her Overmind's talents, keeping his thoughts hidden were not one of them and yet he would tell you differently if asked. In his world, he was a fortress and Shayde could not possibly penetrate the steel walls he had surrounding his thoughts. She was just a weak, pathetic Reaver...a dog and nothing more, and so there was no possible way she could read him.
But she had and so she knew that today would not likely end well. Darius was an Overmind of Greed and yet he had nothing to show for such. He tended to spend anything he acquired almost as quickly as he gained it. He had a thing for making deals, greedy as he was, only the problem was, he was not very good on coming through on his end. To be honest, she didn't know how he was going to get out of this one. Usually, he could pull some stuff together or make another deal to get out of it, but from what she had read in his mind about this Overmind...that would not be happening.
Further confirmation of this coming from the fact that he was so frantic...constantly fidgeting with his tie and the cuffs of his dress jacket. Hell, he had had her iron his shirt three times just to make sure every single crease was out of it. Then of course, there had been the whole fuss he had made over how she was dressed. He had sent her back into her room five times until she had found the perfect outfit and even then he had not been pleased. Sadly, for him at least, he had not allowed her to have too many clothes and so her selection was rather limited. Not that she looked bad or anything, just that Darius hated her rather nerdy appearance.
Her hands shoved into the pockets of her jeans, she kept up with Darius as he moved, eyes trained on the ground, her head down as always. A little sigh given as she listened to him once more berating her inside of his mind. He hated her so much and yet at night when he could get no other woman to crawl into his bed, she was the first one he called upon. Funny kind of, or at least it would have been if he wasn't so cruel and vicious to her.
Though, as they neared their destination, his thoughts would shift and instead of berating her, he was instead thinking about the woman he was meeting and the fear that such a meeting brought to him. To be honest, it amused Shayde to no end, to see her Overmind so unsettled and nervous. But even though she loved to see him like this, she could not shake the feeling that there was something he was hiding. It was not something she knew for sure, but it was there none the less. She could sense it, through the bond that they shared and yet when she read his mind...there was nothing.
It was nothing she was sure, or so she kept telling herself, stepping around him as they neared the doors of the Necropolis so that she could open them for him. He never opened his own doors and when he did, you could be sure that he would berate her for making him. A little wince given as he passed, the mental curse he was issuing toward her one that was rather harsh and in her opinion unwarranted. Yet, as always, she said nothing. She simply waited for him to pass and then moved to follow, eyes lifting up from the floor long enough to push her glasses back up her nose with two fingers and to see if anyone else was there yet.
